Students of a Malaysian university have held donation boxes to collect aid for the survivors of the recent powerful earthquake in Iran-Iraq border region that left scores of people homeless.
The 7.3-magnitude earthquake on November 12 shook the western Iranian province of Kermanshah and the regions bordering Iraq last week killing at least 437 people and injuring over ten thousands others, madaresharghi reported.
According to unofficial reports, some 31,000 homes have been destroyed or damaged in the quake.
Mohammad-Ali Sarvqadi, head of students association at University of Science, Malaysia, (USM), told madaresharghi on Wednesday that the boxes are here to collect students’ donations for quake-hit regions in Iraq and Iran.
“Students from various countries have participated in the initiative,” he said.
The boxes will remain there for 10 days, and then the Iraqi and Iranian students will submit the donations to the survivors of the quake, according to the Iranian student.
