Following the visit of the head of Switzerland’s Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA), Ignazio Cassis to Iran, Swiss Foreign Ministry wrote on its official Twitter account, “Despite economic sanctions, Swiss companies continue to invest in Iran. Thanks also to the humanitarian channel for the payment of food and medicine in Iran”.

Ignazio Cassis who is in Tehran met with Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf today.

During the meeting, Ignazio Cassis said, “Today Iran is suffering from economic problems caused by oppressive sanctions. We hope that the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the start of relations between Iran and Switzerland will strengthen the relations between the two countries more than before, and we will be able to play our role as guardians of interests well”.

Referring to the financial channel that has recently opened between the two countries, he added, “This financial channel contributes to the flow of Iran’s revenues especially in the field of food and medicine which of course is a small measure and should be expanded”.
