The 12th Konya International Mystic Music Festival will open with a concert which Iranian vocalist Mohammadreza Shajarian held a few years ago.
The program is slated to commemorate the 813th birth anniversary of the Persian poet Jalal ed-Din Mohammad Molavi, known as Rumi in Konya, southern Turkey.
The Turkish festival will be held online from September 22 to 30, ISNA reported.
On September 29, the prominent Iranian vocalist Alireza Qorbani will also stage a concert at the Turkish festival.
Various groups from around the world are scheduled to give performances during the festival, which will be held at Sultan Veled Hall and Sema Hall of the Metropolitan Municipality Mevlana Culture Center.
Established in 2008, the festival is organized by the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism of Konya every year to celebrate the birth of the Persian mystic and poet Rumi.
Turkey’s International Mevlana Foundation honored Shajarian with a Golden Pin during his concert with the Shahnaz Ensemble in Konya in December 2009.
Accompanied by the Shams Ensemble and the Pournazeri brothers, Shajarian staged the concert at the 15th Konya International Mystic Music Festival performing tracks composed by Keykhosro Pournazeri.
