Iran’s six-month vehicle production tops 468,000: Report

Iran produced 468,699 vehicles during the first six months of the current Iranian year (March 20-September 21), according to statistics released by the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade.

The figure indicates that car manufacturing in the country rose 23.4 percent during the said period compared to the corresponding period last year, which was 379,820 cars, reported shatanews.ir.

During the period, 425,925 passenger cars were produced in the country, registering a growth of 21.9 percent compared to the first six months of the previous year.

The production of trucks reached 39,519 in the said period, which has increased by 40.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

Three major Iranian carmakers, namely, Iran Khodro Company (IKCO), SAIPA Group and Pars Khodro, manufactured 863,263 vehicles during the past Iranian year (ending March 19).

During the previous year, IKCO manufactured 393,812 vehicles, while Saipa’s production stood at 363,379, and Pars Khodro manufactured 106,072 cars.

Iran has been following a plan for supporting domestic manufacturing of auto parts; due to US sanctions, the country’s automakers have been facing some problems in supplying their needed parts and equipment.
