Iran’s Culture Minister Abbas Salehi said that in the field of art, the country needs to invest in the philosophy of art.
He added that in this field, most of the works are either translation or description, but the country needs productive theories, according to IRNA.
Accompanied by Deputy Minister for Cultural Affairs Mohsen Javadi, Salehi visited the works of SAMT (Organization for Researching and Compiling University Textbooks in the Humanities), and in a meeting with the managers of this organization, he mentioned some of the country’s concerns in the field of humanities.
“In the humanities, it is necessary to pay attention to the philosophy of a particular field. At the beginning of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, the subject of philosophy was discussed in some fields, such as history, and the need for philosophy in the humanities was felt because its existence helps the path of knowledge,” Salehi said.
SAMT has taken practical measures in the field of the philosophy of the humanities and the meeting point of the Ministry of Culture and this organization in the field of philosophy could be art, he said, adding that the two bodies could perform better with greater cooperation.
Speaking about the number of art students, Salehi said, in 2018, Iran had 300,000 university students studying art, and 400,000 art students who were studying at institutes.
