Iraq needs Iran’s help to develop its gas infrastructures, said the Iraqi deputy oil minister for gas affairs on Monday.

Following his meeting with Iran’s Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh in Tehran on Monday morning, Hamid Younis added Iraq has vast programs to develop its gas infrastructure such as creating gas distribution networks for industrial and housing complexes and gas-fueled vehicles, madaresharghi reported.

He said Iran has valuable experiences in gas sector, adding Iraq needs Iran’s help to fulfill its goals in this concern.

Younis said that Iraq intends to use Iranian contractors’ experiences in the fields of attracting and making investments and implementing joint projects to develop its gas industry.

Mutual cooperation between the two countries will continue under the previously signed memoranda of understanding, Younis said.

In March 2017, Zanganeh and Iraqi Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi signed two MoUs to expand cooperation in oil and gas sector.
