More than a dozen civilians have been killed after the US-led coalition purportedly fighting the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group carried out a series of aerial assaults in Syria\u2019s militant-held northern city of Raqqah.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n
\n

\n\tThe Arabic-language Syria Now news website reported that 15 people were killed on Wednesday, when US-led warplanes targeted a residential building in the al-Kahroba neighborhood of the city, located about 455 kilometers (283 miles) northeast of the capital Damascus.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe development came only a day after 21 civilians lost their lives and 14 others sustained injuries in US-led aerial attacks against al-Tausiyah neighborhood\u00a0of Raqqah.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe city of Raqqah, which lies on the northern bank of the Euphrates River, was overrun by Daesh terrorists in March 2013, and was proclaimed the center for most of the Takfiris\u2019 administrative and control tasks the following year.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIt is estimated that some 300,000 civilians are\u00a0trapped inside Raqqah, including 80,000 displaced from other parts of Syria. Thousands have fled in recent months, and the\u00a0United Nations Office\u00a0for the Coordination of\u00a0Humanitarian\u00a0Affairs\u00a0believes about 160,000 people remain in the city.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn June 6, the US-backed militiamen from the so-called Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) said they had launched an operation aimed at pushing Daesh out of Raqqah.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe US-led coalition has been conducting airstrikes against what are said to be Daesh targets inside Syria since September 2014 without any authorization from the Damascus government or a UN mandate.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe military alliance has repeatedly been accused of targeting and killing civilians. It has also been largely incapable of achieving its declared goal of destroying\u00a0Daesh.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights\u00a0reported on September 23 that\u00a0more than 2,800 civilians had been killed in US-led airstrikes across Syria over the past three years.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Britain-based monitoring group\u00a0reported that 427 people, including 137 minors and 113 women, were killed in the aerial attacks between May 23 and June 23 this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe US-led air raids also resulted in the injury of hundreds of civilians, some of whom suffered permanent disabilities and had to have their limbs amputated.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe aerial raids caused massive destruction of residential buildings and civilian infrastructure as well.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in two separate letters sent to UN Secretary General Ant\u00f3nio Guterres and UN Security Council rotating President Fran\u00e7ois Delattre on October 4, criticized the international community\u2019s silence towards US atrocities in the Arab country.<\/p>\n
