\n\t\t\tOn Thursday, Bahrain\u2019s Court of Appeal found the defendants guilty of\u00a0killing\u00a0a member of security forces and setting his patrol car ablaze with a Molotov cocktail during clashes in the village of Karzakan,\u00a0located 20 kilometers southwest of the capital Manama,\u00a0on December 17, 2015, Arabic-language\u00a0and independent\u00a0Manama Post\u00a0online newspaper reported.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe court also pressed charges of\u00a0illegal gathering and rioting in addition to possession of flammable materials against the convicts, and ordered them to pay 10,200 dinars ($27,835) altogether over damage inflicted on regime forces during the protest.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tManama piles up pressure on Shias ahead of Ashura<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMeanwhile, Bahrain\u2019s ruling Al Khalifah regime has intensified its repressive measures ahead of Ashura, which marks the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (PBUH) \u2013 the third Shia Imam.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tManama regime\u2019s mercenaries, escorted by security forces, raided the northern village of al-Musalla\u00a0on the western outskirts of Manama and took down Ashura banners and flags\u00a0using crane baskets.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThousands of anti-regime protesters have held demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in mid-February 2011.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThey are demanding that the Al Khalifah dynasty relinquish power and allow a just system representing all Bahrainis to be established.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tManama has gone to great lengths to clamp down on any sign of dissent.\u00a0On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were deployed to assist Bahrain\u00a0in its crackdown.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tScores of people have lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries or got arrested as a result of the Al Khalifah regime\u2019s crackdown.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOn March 5, Bahrain\u2019s\u00a0parliament\u00a0approved the trial of civilians at military tribunals in a measure blasted by human rights campaigners as being tantamount to imposition of an undeclared martial law countrywide. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Bahraini monarch, King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah, ratified the constitutional amendment on April 3.<\/p>\n
