Islamic Republic of Iran is opposed to any type of change in the geographical borders and partition of the regional countries, Iranian defense minister said on Tuesday.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis issue will cause problem for the region, Iraqi people and in particular the Iraqi Kurdistan (region),\u201d Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami said in a reference to the Kurdish semi-autonomous region referendum for independence on Monday, IRNA wrote.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe pointed to Iran’s principled policy that underlines respecting regional states’ sovereignty and national authority, adding that Daesh terrorists and their regional and international supporters would benefit the issue.<\/p>\n

\n\tMeanwhile, the Turkish Ambassador to Iran Reza Hakan Tekin said that the Iraqi Kurdistan region’s unilateral decision for holding the referendum is a source of concern and can cause instability in the region.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe expect the KRG officials to show good will and stop their unilateral measures which are against the Iraqi constitution,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

\n\tHe said that fighting terrorism is one of the most important priorities of cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

\n\tIranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qasemi on Monday said that Iran and Turkey relations have entered new phases.<\/p>\n

\n\tChief of the general staff of Turkey Hulusi Akar will pay visit to Tehran in the near future in response to his Iranian counterpart Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri’s visit to Ankara, he noted.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe official said that the US President Recep Tayyip Erdo\u011fan will also pay visit to Iran in the near future.<\/p>\n
