\n\t\t\tAccording to a Twitter account attributed to Nabeel Rajab, the\u00a0chairman\u00a0of the Bahrain Center for Human Rights, the pro-democracy campaigner had to be hospitalized\u00a0after inmates at women’s prison\u00a0in the country\u2019s north-central Isa\u00a0Town\u00a0suffered nausea and vomiting, Arabic-language Lualua television network reported.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSaegh, who works for the Salam for Democracy and Human Rights,\u00a0was first arrested in May but was released later that month after being\u00a0beaten and sexually assaulted by Bahraini regime forces.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe prominent human rights advocate went on an open-ended hunger strike on July 11 to express outrage at being\u00a0tortured\u00a0during interrogation at the notorious Criminal Investigation Building after her last arrest on July 3, and being denied the right to\u00a0meet her family members or contact her lawyer.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tLate last month, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders called on Manama to ensure the physical and psychological well-being of Saegh as well as\u00a0Mohammed al-Shakhouri and Radhi al-Qatari.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe rights group called for the immediate and unconditional release of the trio, arguing that their continued detention was\u00a0merely aimed at silencing voices speaking out against abuses in Bahrain.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt also urged the Al Khalifah regime to allow the jailed activists \u201cunhindered access to their family, lawyers as well as proper medical treatment…\u00a0and guarantee their right to due process and a fair trial.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tRights group\u00a0Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain has enumerated a list of restrictive measures that the Al Khalifah regime has taken against Saegh.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThousands of anti-regime protesters have held demonstrations in Bahrain on an almost daily basis ever since a popular uprising began in the country in mid-February 2011.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThey are demanding that the Al Khalifah dynasty relinquish power and allow a just system representing all Bahrainis to be established.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tManama has gone to great lengths to clamp down on any sign of dissent.\u00a0On March 14, 2011, troops from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were deployed to assist Bahrain\u00a0in its crackdown.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tScores of people have lost their lives and hundreds of others sustained injuries or got arrested as a result of the Al Khalifah regime\u2019s crackdown.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIn March, Bahrain\u2019s\u00a0parliament\u00a0approved the trial of civilians at military tribunals in a measure blasted by human rights campaigners as being tantamount to imposition of an undeclared martial law countrywide. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBahraini monarch King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah ratified the constitutional amendment on April 3.<\/p>\n
