Leader of Iran\u2019s Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei has ordered the Iranian Army to hold an inquiry about the accident in a recent naval training exercise that resulted in the martyrdom of 19 servicemen on board \u2018Konarak\u2019 support vessel in Iran\u2019s southeastern waters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ayatollah Khamenei on Tuesday sent a message of sympathy to Iranian \nArmy Commander Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi over the martyrdom of \nNavy forces in the fatal accident in the Sea of Oman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Leader said the tragic accident involving Konarak vessel that \nresulted in the martyrdom of a number of Navy servicemen has been \u201cvery \nbitter and regrettable\u201d for him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAlthough the hardworking servicemen who have died in the course of \nhard duty and gloriously will benefit from divine reward God willing, \nthe grief at the loss of the beloved ones for their families and the \ndamage of loss of the sincere hardworking young forces to the Force \n(Navy) is quite great and heavy,\u201d Ayatollah Khamenei underlined.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Offering condolences to the bereaved families of the victims of the \naccident and praying for the recovery of the injured, the Leader ordered\n the relevant authorities to \u201ccorrectly shed light on the dimensions of \nthe incident, identify the ones possibly at fault, and make the \nnecessary arrangements to prevent a recurrence of such damaging and \nbitter incidents.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nineteen Navy servicemen were martyred in an accident involving \n\u2018Konarak\u2019 light support vessel on Sunday evening, May 10, when a number \nof vessels were carrying a naval training exercise off the coasts of \nJask and Chabahar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Fifteen Navy forces have been also wounded in the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
