The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) successfully launched Iran’s first military satellite into the orbit on Wednesday.\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The first military satellite, dubbed \nNoor 1 [Light 1], was launched upon Ghased (Messenger) satellite carrier\n in the early hours of Wednesday from a location in the central desert \nof Iran, Sepah News reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The satellite was placed into orbit 425 kilometers (265 miles) above the Earth\u2019s surface.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The satellite launch was carried out on the anniversary of the 41st anniversary of the establishment of the IRGC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Over the past decade, Iran has sent several short-lived satellites into orbit. In 2013 Iran launched a monkey into space. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
IRGC Commander Major General Hossein \nSalami said the \u201csuccessful launch of the satellite promoted new \ndimensions of the defense power of the Islamic Republic of Iran\u201d and \ncalled it a \u201cstrategic achievement\u201d for the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to Sepah News, General Salami said the multi-purpose satellite has military applications as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The IRGC chief congratulated this success \nto the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the \ncommander-in-chief of the armed forces, and the \u201cnoble\u201d Iranian nation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
General Salami added now the IRGC enjoys the advanced space technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In modern era powerful militaries cannot boast a comprehensive defense plan without access to space, Salami remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It also marks a great jump for the IRGC\u2019s intelligence capabilities, the senior commander remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The multipurpose satellite is highly valuable in terms of information technology and information warfare, he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
IRGC Aerospace Force chief: Access to space is not a choice but a necessity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, said access to space is unavoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cToday access and using space is not a \nchoice but an unavoidable necessity and we must also find our place in \nthe space,\u201d Hajizadeh remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Pointing to the technological aspects of \nthe satellite, which uses combined liquid and solid fuel, the commander \nadded, \u201cOnly superpowers have this capability and others are just \nconsumers of this technology.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) successfully launched Iran’s first military satellite into the orbit on Wednesday.
