\n\tSpeaking\n at a UN Security Council\u2019s session on the situation in Syria on \nWednesday, Ja\u2019afari said, \u201cWestern countries and the US seek to engage \nTurkey in Syria\u201d due to their political disputes with Russia, \npresstv.com reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\t\u201cPolitical\n rivalries have turned into military tensions and there is no \npossibility of a ceasefire in Idlib at the present time,\u201d said Ja\u2019afari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tHis remarks came as tensions escalate between Russia and Turkey over the protracted conflict in the Arab country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThe\n Syrian envoy said Western countries do not welcome the terms of Astana \nand Sochi agreements regarding the de-escalation zone in Idlib, adding \nthat Washington wants to hamper this process by influencing the course \nof developments in Idlib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThe\n area was proclaimed a demilitarized zone under the Moscow-Ankara \nagreements. Back in mid-January, Russian and Turkish forces tried to \nimpose a \u201cregime of silence\u201d there, however, the attacks only increased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tUnder\n a deal reached with Russia and brokered by Iran in 2018 known as the \nSochi agreement, a small number of Turkish forces were allowed to man \nobservation posts on Syrian territory to monitor the enforcement of \ncertain de-escalation zones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tHowever,\n Syrian forces have been advancing to re-establish control over \nsovereign territory in Idlib because militants have been launching \nattacks on army and civilian targets from there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tMeanwhile,\n Turkey has been sending reinforcements into northwest Syria and \npressing for a Turkish-controlled zone there, a provocative move that \ndefies the Syrian government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tUnder\n the bilateral agreements between Moscow and Ankara, the latter was \ntasked to separate the so-called \u201cmoderate opposition\u201d militants from \nthe internationally recognized terrorists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tTurkey\u2019s failure to do so is believed to be one of the main reasons behind the ongoing escalation in Idlib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tTurkish\n President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said Turkey\u2019s military would strike \nSyrian army forces by air or ground anywhere in Syria if another Turkish\n soldier was hurt as Syrian government troops continue to make \nsignificant gains in battles against foreign-backed terrorists in Idlib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tErdogan\n said Wednesday that Turkey is determined to push Syrian government \nforces beyond Turkish observation posts in Idlib by the end this month, \nand he urged allied militant not to give government forces an excuse to \nattack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tMeanwhile, Russia has accused Turkey of failing to neutralize terrorists in Idlib.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tOver\n the past four years, the Turkish military has staged at least two \nunauthorized invasions into northern Syria to push back against Kurdish \nmilitants, which Ankara accuses of harboring subversive intentions \nagainst the Turkish administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
