\n\t\u201cThese figures show that Iran currently does not have significant \namount of electricity exports to the neighboring countries,\u201d Baqeri \nsaid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThe official noted that most of Iran\u2019s neighboring countries greatly \nrely on electricity imports because of their poor infrastructure and \nnetworks and Iran should use this opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tBased on the country\u2019s Sixth Five-Year National Development Plan \n(2016-21), Iran has planned to become an energy hub in the region and \nthe government needs to take necessary measures to achieve this goal, he\n added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\t\u201cIf the country wants to become the region’s electricity hub, it will \nundoubtedly need to increase its electricity exports capacity to \nneighboring countries, while synchronizing its networks with them,\u201d he \nexplained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tIran has had electricity exchanges with most of its neighbors including\n Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Iraq,\n as well as the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic among which Turkey, Iraq,\n Pakistan and Afghanistan have been solely importers of Iran\u2019s \nelectricity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tThe country has recently synchronized its electricity network with that\n of Iraq in order to be able to boost its power cooperation in the \nfuture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tIranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian said in August that his country\n had exported 2.3 billion kilowatts of electricity to the neighboring \ncountries since March 21.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tArdakanian said that the exports were made in the wake of proper \nmanagement of electricity consumption this year, as the country suffered\n no power outages this summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\tHe added that Energy Ministry will inaugurate 227 projects including 10 big dams in nine provinces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\t“We have increased the power generation capacity as much as 1,800 MW \neach year since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution,” he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
