Kuwait\u2019s Emir Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah underlined the great importance of Iran\u2019s role in the fight against the Daesh terrorist group and contribution to the development of Iraq\u2019s economy and stability.<\/p>\n
Praising Tehran\u2019s role, the Kuwaiti emir expressed hope that all problems and differences among regional countries would be settled through dialogue, IRNA reported.
\nHe made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who had traveled to the neighboring country to participate in Iraq\u2019s reconstruction conference aimed at raising funds for reconstructing the Arab country.
\nThe Iranian top diplomat expressed appreciation for Kuwait\u2019s mediation efforts to resolve current crises in the region, and expressed hope that the efforts would culminate in favorable results.
\nThe two sides underlined the need for the promotion of ties and direct consultations between the high-ranking officials of the two countries.
\nThe three-day Kuwait International Conference for the Reconstruction of Iraq opened in Kuwait City on Monday with focus on the reconstruction of Iraq and vital issues concerned following more than three years of war on Daesh that has left many parts of the Arab country in ruins.
\nIraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi in December declared victory in the war against Daesh, which controlled as much as a third of Iraq\u2019s territory three years ago.
\nAccording to reports, billions of dollars were pledged on Wednesday at the donors\u2019 conference. Iraq, however, has said it needs far more donations. Baghdad has said it is seeking more than $88 billion to rebuild the country.
\nIranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday that the Islamic Republic would continue to play a \u201csupportive and constructive\u201d role in Iraq\u2019s reconstruction and economic development.
