Veteran translator Najaf Daryabandari who is also the writer of a bestselling cookbook has been honored as a Living Human Treasure in the category of cuisine.<\/p>\n
His name was listed among Iran\u2019s Bearers of Intangible Cultural Heritage, Farhad Nazari, an official of the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO) announced in a press release on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
\u201cDaryabandari is among the writers and translators, which have their own special styles and their works appeal to all people,\u201d Nazari said.<\/p>\n
Daryabandari, 88, won the honor for \u201cFrom Garlic to Onion\u201d, a cookbook that he authored with the help of his wife Fahimeh Rastkar, an actress and dubber who died in November 2012. <\/p>\n
He also is the translator of Ernst Hemingway\u2019s \u201cA Farewell to Arms\u201d and \u201cThe Old Man and the Sea\u201d, William Faulkner\u2019s \u201cA Rose for Emily\u201d and \u201cAs I Lay Dying\u201d.<\/p>\n
