{"id":1803,"date":"2017-11-19T11:38:32","date_gmt":"2017-11-19T12:38:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madaresharghi.com\/syrian-army-takes-back-bukamal-from-daesh\/"},"modified":"2017-11-19T11:38:32","modified_gmt":"2017-11-19T12:38:32","slug":"syrian-army-takes-back-bukamal-from-daesh","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madaresharghi.ir\/en\/syrian-army-takes-back-bukamal-from-daesh\/","title":{"rendered":"Syrian Army takes back Bukamal from Daesh"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madaresharghi..com\">madaresharghi<\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"lide\">The Syrian Army and its allies took complete control over Bukamal, Daesh\u2019s last significant town in Syria, a military news service run by Hezbollah said on Sunday.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"69\">\n<p>\n\tThe army had declared victory over Daesh terrorist group in Bukamal earlier this month but the terrorists then staged a counterattack using sleeper cells hidden in the town, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDriving Daesh from Bukamal means only a few villages along the Euphrates and patches of nearby desert, as well as isolated pockets in other parts of the country, remain in Syria of the de facto caliphate it declared in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMost of the forces battling Daesh in Syria and Iraq have said they expect it to go underground and turn to a guerrilla insurgency using sleeper cells and bombings.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWestern intelligence agencies have said it will still be able to inspire attacks on civilians around the world.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe Syrian Army and its allies in the axis of resistance have expelled Daesh from its last stronghold on Syrian soil,\u201d the Hezbollah news service reported.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday that most Daesh members withdrew from the town, with fighting continuing in the perimeter of Bukamal.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDaesh\u2019s area of rule in Syria has crumbled this year under two rival military campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) alliance of Kurdish and Arab militias, backed by a US-led coalition has driven it from much of its territory in the north, including Raqqa.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSyria\u2019s Army and its allies have waged an offensive across central and eastern Syria backed by Russian air and missile power.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe two offensives have mostly avoided conflict with each other through communication between the United States and Russia.
