Chief of Staff of Israeli military, Lieutenant General Gadi Eizenkot, said Tel Aviv is ready to share intelligence with Saudi Arabia in their joint efforts to confront Iran.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tIn an interview with the Saudi-owned\u00a0Elaph<\/em>\u00a0online newspaper on Thursday, Eizenkot claimed that Iran was the “biggest threat to the region\u201d and was seeking \u201cto take control of the Middle East\u201d, Press TV reported.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis is what must be prevented in the region,\u201d he said, noting that Tel Aviv and Riyadh were in full agreement about Iran’s intentions.<\/p>\n

\n\tEizenkot further expressed Israel\u2019s readiness \u201cto exchange experiences with moderate Arab countries and exchange intelligence to confront Iran,” the London-based daily\u00a0reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tAsked about whether Israel had\u00a0shared such data with Riyadh recently, Eizenkot replied, \u201cWe are prepared to share information if it is necessary. There are many mutual interests between them [Saudi Arabia] and us.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe also accused Iran of trying to destabilize the region by building weapons factories and supplying arms to resistance\u00a0groups such as Hezbollah.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Israeli military chief made the accusations\u00a0even as he claimed that Israel’s security situation has never been better than now.<\/p>\n

\n\tIsrael and Saudi Arabia have no diplomatic relations, but they are widely believed to have secret liaisons.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the past few months, there have been numerous reports\u00a0of the two sides planning to establish full diplomatic ties.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Tuesday, Lebanon’s\u00a0Al-Akhbar<\/em>\u00a0newspaper published a secret undated letter from Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, which\u00a0put\u00a0forward a plan to normalize ties with Israel despite \u201crisks\u201d of a public backlash.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn September, Israeli and Arab media reported that a Saudi prince had traveled to Israel and held consultations with senior Israeli officials over \u201cregional peace.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA month later, an Israeli official, who was speaking on condition of anonymity, told AFP Arabic that Salman had in fact been the prince who visited Israel.<\/p>\n
