\n\t\t\t\u201cThe presence of the US troops or any foreign military contingent in Syria, without the consent of the Syrian government, constitutes an act of aggression, an attack on the country\u2019s sovereignty and a flagrant violation of United Nations principles,\u201d Syria\u2019s Ministry of\u00a0Foreign Affairs\u00a0and\u00a0Expatriates\u00a0said in a statement released on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe statement came a day after US Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis said, \u201cWe are not going to just walk away right now\u201d before the UN-sponsored peace talks yield results.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Syrian foreign ministry \u201ccategorically rejected\u201d the comments.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt said Mattis\u2019s comments\u00a0expose the subversive agenda of the US administration, and its \u201cclear\u201d collusion with Daesh and other terrorist groups in addition to its constant quest to thwart all efforts aimed at finding a solution to the current Syrian crisis.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe United States seeks to inflame tensions in the Middle East region in favor of the Israeli regime and impose its hegemony on regional countries and resources, the Syrian foreign ministry stated.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\t\u201cLinking the US’s presence in Syria to a settlement process is just a pretext and an attempt to justify this presence,\u201d the statement pointed out.<\/p>\n

\n

\n\t\t\t\tIt added, \u201cThe United States and others will not be able to impose any solution with military pressure \u2013 on the contrary, this presence will only prolong and complicate the crisis.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

\n\t\t\tThe statement then demanded the \u201cimmediate and unconditional withdrawal of US forces\u201d from Syrian territory.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tSeven previous rounds of UN-backed peace negotiations between representatives of the Syrian government and delegates from foreign-sponsored armed opposition have failed to produce concrete results.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tA new round of talks is scheduled to take place from November 28, with UN special envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura heading them.<\/p>\n
