{"id":1552,"date":"2017-11-04T11:07:27","date_gmt":"2017-11-04T12:07:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madaresharghi.com\/velayati-syrian-forces-will-march-to-raqqa-soon\/"},"modified":"2017-11-04T11:07:27","modified_gmt":"2017-11-04T12:07:27","slug":"velayati-syrian-forces-will-march-to-raqqa-soon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madaresharghi.ir\/en\/velayati-syrian-forces-will-march-to-raqqa-soon\/","title":{"rendered":"Velayati: Syrian forces will march to Raqqa soon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madaresharghi..com\">madaresharghi<\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"lide\">Ali Akbar Velayati, the top advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, said Syrian forces will advance soon to take Raqqa city.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"78\">\n<p>\n\t\u201cWe will witness in the near future the advance of government and popular forces in Syria and east of the Euphrates, and the liberation of Raqqa city,\u201d Velayati said in televised comments on a visit to Lebanon on Friday, Reuters reported.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe US-backed forces seized the city from the Daesh terrorist group last month.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tVelayati accused the United States of seeking to divide Syria by stationing its forces east of the Euphrates river.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLast month, US-backed forces declared victory in Raqqa, Daesh\u2019s former headquarters in Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tDamascus says it deemed Raqqa \u201coccupied\u201d until the Syrian Army took control.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tVelayati made the comments hours after Syrian forces managed to liberate the eastern city of Deir ez-Zor from Daesh terrorists.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tVictory in Deir ez-Zor, the capital of the oil-rich eastern province of the same name, is another setback for Daesh terrorists, who have in recent months lost much of the territory they gained in Iraq and Syria in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tUnder the cover of Russian airstrikes, the government has in recent months made advances in eastern Syria.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cWith the support of our allies and supporting forces, the city of Deir ez-Zor has been liberated completely from the clutches of the terrorist group ISIS [Daesh], after exterminating large numbers of the organization\u2019s terrorists, including leaders and foreigners, and destroying their weapons and equipment,\u201d said a Syrian Army statement.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTerrorists imposed a siege on the government-held part of the city for more than three years. More than 100,000 civilians and thousands of Syrian forces were trapped, struggling to survive on meager supplies.
