Oil companies evacuated staff from Gulf of Mexico platforms and curtailed output ahead of the storm, which hit the region last weekend, Reuters reported. About 7% of US Gulf natural gas production remains offline, BSEE said. The fast-moving storm had curtailed up to 92% of daily oil production and 77% of daily natural gas output in the Gulf of Mexico, more than three times the amount affected by Harvey, which packed more of a punch when it hit the Texas coast.
