{"id":1041,"date":"2017-10-16T17:45:47","date_gmt":"2017-10-16T17:45:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madaresharghi.com\/israeli-authorities-approve-permits-for-31-settler-units-in-west-bank-city-of-al-khalil\/"},"modified":"2017-10-16T17:45:47","modified_gmt":"2017-10-16T17:45:47","slug":"israeli-authorities-approve-permits-for-31-settler-units-in-west-bank-city-of-al-khalil","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madaresharghi.ir\/en\/israeli-authorities-approve-permits-for-31-settler-units-in-west-bank-city-of-al-khalil\/","title":{"rendered":"Israeli authorities approve permits for 31 settler units in West Bank city of al-Khalil"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madaresharghi..com\">madaresharghi<\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"lide\">Israeli authorities have approved permits for 31 settler units in the West Bank city of al-Khalil (Hebron) as the Tel Aviv regime continues to defy the international community by building more settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"77\">\n<p>\n\tAnat Ben Nun of Peace Now, an Israeli NGO which closely monitors settlement construction,\u00a0said on Monday that an Israeli committee had approved construction permits for 31 units in the flashpoint city<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPeace Now added that a planning council meeting on Tuesday and Wednesday is expected to have over 2,000 units on the agenda.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n\tMeanwhile, an Israeli official has confirmed that the approvals are among some 4,000 settler unit plans to be advanced as part of a push to greatly boost settlement growth.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSettlement building in the occupied West Bank and annexed east Jerusalem al-Quds is considered illegal under international law.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tSince the inauguration of US President Donald Trump in January 2017, the regime in Tel Aviv has stepped up\u00a0construction of settler units on the occupied Palestinian land in a blatant violation of international law.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tLess than a month before Trump took office, the United Nations Security Council adopted Resolution 2334, which called on Israel to \u201cimmediately and completely cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territories, including East Jerusalem\u201d al-Quds.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><figcaption\/><\/figure>\n<p>\n\tIn May,\u00a0the Israeli Foreign Ministry appealed to the US to nullify Resolution 2334.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAbout 600,000 Israelis live in over 230 illegal settlements built since the 1967 Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and East Jerusalem al-Quds.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tPalestinians want\u00a0the West Bank as part of a future independent Palestinian\u00a0state, with East Jerusalem al-Quds as its capital.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe continued expansion of Israeli settlements is one of the major obstacles to the establishment of peace in the Middle East.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe last round of Israeli-Palestinian talks collapsed in 2014.
