{"id":1028,"date":"2017-10-14T18:09:37","date_gmt":"2017-10-14T18:09:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/madaresharghi.com\/syria-demands-immediate-unconditional-pullout-of-turkish-troops-from-idlib\/"},"modified":"2017-10-14T18:09:37","modified_gmt":"2017-10-14T18:09:37","slug":"syria-demands-immediate-unconditional-pullout-of-turkish-troops-from-idlib","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/madaresharghi.ir\/en\/syria-demands-immediate-unconditional-pullout-of-turkish-troops-from-idlib\/","title":{"rendered":"Syria demands \u2018immediate, unconditional\u2019 pullout of Turkish troops from Idlib"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/madaresharghi..com\">madaresharghi<\/a><br \/>\n<\/p>\n<p><h2 class=\"lide\">The Syrian government has strongly denounced an incursion of Turkish military forces into the country\u2019s militant-held northwestern province of Idlib, demanding \u201cimmediate and unconditional\u201d withdrawal of Turkish troops from the war-ravaged Arab country.<\/h2>\n<\/p>\n<div readability=\"75\">\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the incursion of Turkish military units in[to] \u2026 Idlib province, which constitutes \u2026 blatant aggression against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and flagrant violation of international law,\u201d an unnamed official source at the Ministry\u00a0of Foreign Affairs and\u00a0Expatriates told Syria\u2019s official news agency, SANA, on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\u201cThe Syrian Arab Republic demands \u2026 immediate and unconditional withdrawal of Turkish troops from the Syrian territory,\u201d the source added.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe source further described Ankara\u2019s military incursion as an\u00a0act of \u201caggression\u201d which \u201cthe Turkish regime can\u2019t justify in any way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\n\tHe also dismissed Turkey\u2019s attempts to link the move to the implementation of the Astana agreements with Iran and Russia on the creation of de-escalation zones in Syria, terming it a \u201cdeparture\u201d from the deal.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image\"><figcaption\/><\/figure>\n<p>\n\tLate on Thursday, Turkey deployed a convoy of around 30 military vehicles to Idlib province.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe Turkish forces entered Syria near the Bab al-Hawa border crossing, and headed to Shaykh\u00a0 Barakat hilltop, which overlooks lands controlled by foreign-sponsored Takfiri militants as well as Afrin area held by US-backed militiamen from the Kurdish People&#8217;s Protection Units (YPG).<\/p>\n<p>\n\tIdlib and swaths of land in Syria\u2019s northern and northwestern regions are largely controlled by members of Tahrir al-Sham militant group.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tTurkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said his country\u2019s military operations in Idlib are the follow-up of the Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria, which Ankara launched in August last year without any authorization\u00a0from Damascus.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnkara said back then that the main objectives behind the operation were clearing Turkey\u2019s southern border of the Daesh Takfiri terrorist group and stopping the YPG from gaining more sway there.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tAnkara views the YPG as the Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers&#8217; Party (PKK) militant group, which has been fighting for an autonomous region inside Turkey since 1984.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>madaresharghi The Syrian government has strongly denounced an incursion of Turkish military forces into the country\u2019s militant-held northwestern province of Idlib, demanding \u201cimmediate and unconditional\u201d withdrawal of Turkish troops from the war-ravaged Arab country. \u201cThe Syrian Arab Republic condemns in the strongest terms the incursion of Turkish military units in[to] \u2026 Idlib province, which constitutes [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[8],"tags":[639],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v15.7 -
